Help Make Recovery Possible

Peer Support has shown to reduce substance use and positively impact recovery outcomes. Mountain Top Cares Coalition has ongoing financial needs and your generosity plays a crucial role in helping folks in our community. Your kind contributions help tremendously with little things like needed supplies, and big things!, like growing our team, expanding programming, and continuing life saving Narcan training and distribution.

Alarming Statistics: In 2021, the opioid overdose crude rate in Greene County was 46.3, nearly double the upstate New York average of 23.5 (per 100,000 population). Between 2019 and 2022, 52 Greene County residents lost their lives to overdose, with 20% of these deaths occurring in the mountaintop area. During the same period, Greene County witnessed 401 overdose events. Fentanyl was involved in 91% of overdose deaths in Greene County in 2022. Xylazine is now further complicating overdose events. Additionally, almost 19% of adults in New York State engage in excessive alcohol use, resulting in over 6,700 deaths annually in the state. In 2023 alone, our rural county experienced 87 overdoses, with a devastating fatality rate of 17%. The need for our services has never been greater.
